romel’s roasts

coffee

one of my dad's non-famous roasts

i’ve got a better appreciation for the taste of coffee due to my dad’s latest hobby: coffee roasting.  as much coffee as i’ve drank throughout my lifetime, i never realized the flavor subtleties and was under the assumption that the darker it is, the stronger it is.  believe it or not, that’s not really the case.  the lighter the roast, (meaning, the amount of time the beans spend in the roaster) actually increase the caffeine content simply because it retains more of that “crack” we need to get our day started.  lighter roasts also retain more of the bean’s complex flavors.

pixel pushing.

halo-halo wars.not sure why my passion for gaming has waned recently. i think it’s a mixture of being a father and being self-employed. i still continue to buy games despite not being motivated to play them. in fact, iphone gaming has somewhat filled the void for me. it’s quick and great for short bursts. my boy john hooked me up with halo wars so i’m going to give it a try. if it doesn’t hold my attention for 1/2 an hour then it’s back to mobile gaming for me.

facebook.

i’ve gotta be honest. i’m wasting way too much time on facebook. so i’ve decided to re-enter the blogosphere and use this format as my primary outlet for online self-expression. but for those who are used to my status updates on facebook, i’ve installed an application that links my blog directly to my fb account. i hope i did everything correctly for it to show up on my wall/news feed. which is why i’m making this post as a test to make sure it all works cleanly.

cheers to a new beginning.

phone blogging.

very convenient.

very convenient.

i’m such a freak for technology. yes, i am the early adopter type (aka guinea pig) who spends way too much on the latest and greatest tech available to the public. i’ve always been this way. how can you blame a guy whose dad has worked for intel since his early 20s? i was exposed to computers at such a young age that i could troubleshoot my way through any problem.

so the ability to blog from my phone brings me back to those giddy years of experiencing computing power for the first time. this is just way too cool. it’s a bit scary to know how much power we hold in our pant pockets and generally crazy to think how connected we are with these devices at any given time. personally, i think it’s a gift from god. use wisely.

can you guess where i was when i wrote this post? =P

evolving. again.

i’ve decided to make it much easier this time and do everything in blog format.  i’ve tried taking the organized website approach but found it too time consuming.  i’d like to keep it as real and candid as possible this time around so hypoetical.net is back as a blog.  right now i’m just keeping it super simple but i do hope to evolve it over time and stick to this format moving forward.

so there ya have it.  cheers.
